2 Hindu Temples Vandalised: Malaysia

A Hindu temple was today vandalised in Malaysia's Penang state by unidentified persons who damaged the deities, a top state official said, less than a week after a similiar incident in the area.

The Sri Dharma Munisverar temple was reported to have been damaged in today's incident though the extent of the damage was yet to be ascertained, Deputy Chief Minister Dr P Ramasamy said.

This is the second such incident involving a Hindu temple in Butterworth town.

The Munisverar temple is located about one km away from the Muthumariamman Temple in Penanti Estate, Ara Kuda which was reportedly vandalised last Saturday, he said.

Bangladesh: Hindu Ashram volunteer Killed

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group has claimed responsibility for the killing of a Hindu monastery worker in northeastern Bangladesh, according to a US-based monitoring service.

Friday's attack on Nitya Ranjan Pandey, 60, in Pabna district is the third murder of a member of Bangladesh's religious minorities that ISIL has taken responsibility for in the past week.

Pandey, a volunteer at the Shri Shri Thakur Anukulchandra Ashram in Pabna, was attacked while taking a walk early on Friday morning."He had been working at the monastery for around 40 years. In recent years he was the head of its office staff."

Hindu Priest Brutally Killed: Bangladesh

Unidentified assailants on Tuesday shot and hacked to death a Hindu priest, Ananta Gopal Ganguly, in Jhenaidah in southwestern part of the country. He was attacked at around 9:30 a.m. by three men who slit his throat with sharp-edged weapons.

Hindu teacher beaten up: Bangladesh

In yet another incident of mob justice against minorities in Bangladesh, a Hindu headmaster of a school in Narayanganj was on Friday punished by locals for allegedly insulting Islam.

As per The Daily Star newsapaper– leading English daily of Bangladesh – principal Shyamal Kanti Bhakta of Piyar Sattar Latif High School in the district's Bandar area told BBC Bangla service that the locals were provoked by the false accusations of him making disparaging statements about the religion.

A Hindu tailor was hacked to death near his workplace in Gopalpur upazila of Tangail district near Dhaka. Police and eyewitness said three young men, who came on a motorcycle, hacked Nikhil Chandra Joarder (50) and left him dead on the spot.

Top Hindu priest Murdered: Bangladesh

The Islamic State on Monday claimed the brutal killing of a head priest in Bangladesh at a Hindu temple in an area bordering India, the first attack by the dreaded terror group targeting the community amid a series of similar assaults on religious minorities.

U.S.-based private SITE Intelligence Group published the ISIS statement in Arabic after the execution—style killing of 50-year-old Jagneshwar Roy at Sonapota village on Sunday in a pre-dawn attack in northern Panchagarh district’s Debiganj Upazila, some 494 km from here, that also injured two Hindu devotees.

“In a security operation, soldiers of the Caliphate liquidated the priest — the founder and head of the Deviganj temple that belongs to the Hindus,” read the English translation of the IS statement.
